Film Noir - Lighting Challenge
Maya, Photoshop
June 2008

My entry for this particular lighting challenge.
Framing this particular scene was I think even more challenging than the lighting itself, hehe.
The elements were scattered all over so for instance in order to frame the gas station from the right I had to leave out the trailer and the graveyard.

So i duplicated a few things here and there and threw them in the foreground, moved stuff around and played with it until I had something that made a more compelling scene.

As for the lighting, well...this was the first time that I tried to do film noir. I didn't want to go for the typical private-eye kind of film noir since I figured mostly everyone would, so I decided to do a kind of horror film noir.

I used only software render in Maya, and then worked the de-saturation and contrast in photoshop, and manually tweaked little highligts in the rain.

All crits and comments welcome.
Cheers.
